José Teixeira Coelho Netto is Professor Emeritus from the School of Communications and Arts, University of São Paulo; coordinator of a study group at the Institute of Advanced Studies, University of São Paulo; coordinator of a Graduate Program on Cultural Policies at the Observatório Itaú Cultural. Formerly director of the Information and Culture Department, School of Communications and Arts, University of São Paulo; director of the MAC USP – Museum of Contemporary Art, University of São Paulo; chief curator of MASP – Sao Paulo Art Museum, among others.
He has written extensively on art and culture and is a novelist as well (Portugal Telecom Award for his novel A Natural History of Dictatorship). Fellowship awards: Fulbright Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Goethe Institute, Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, FAPESP, CAPES. He has been invited worldwide (Americas, Europe, China, Japan) and cooperated with UNESCO, ONU, International Association Art without Boundaries. Since 2020, José Teixeira Coelho Netto has been a curator at the Media Solution Center in Stuttgart.
